Penn an Hordh
Etching
Etched into kober - copper - using selected grounds, tools, and techniques, and printed on vintage presses, these three images seek to inscribe and pin down my connectivity to heritage and landscape. Printed as part of my 'research into practice' MA Printmaking in 2018. Tapping into ancestral craftsmanship and family lines from the Cornish banks of the River Tamar through to Dartmoor and Devon I am following traditions of workmanship extending back through centuries. Artisan boat builders, bargemen, miners, artists, working at Cotehele, Calstock, Forda and Cremyll, in making a livelihood from the rivers and land in these areas of enduring beauty.
